Progress

My cosplay dream is to be able to make Rin's Daughter of Evil dress! But I'm far from achieving it! >.< I got started in cosplaying because I've been an anime fan for around 3 years and I've always wanted to cosplay. I only ever started getting serious about it in July 2012 because I finally got the motivation! I love cosplaying because after you complete a piece of your cosplay from scratch, it feels amazing. I also love it because I'll (hopefully) get to meet new people that I'll be friends with forever. :)

I commissioned the tunic/dress and hat from a close friend of mine for £10.
I have begun to choose the wig and it will be ordered before the end of June. Furthermore, the leggings have been chosen and will be bought soon. I have to search for cheap boots as mine are black punk.
I will commence working on the shield first as soon as I have bought the insulation board.

Yes! I'm finally back to working on this cosplay!! :D
Although, a slight change of plan has been made.... I shall be changing it from Kagamine Len, to Kagamine Rin! Meaning: Skirt instead of shorts and, obviously, a Rin wig.
I am going to buy a wig from one of my friends and I shall be using my school skirt as the skirt. Also, the apron will be from my Maid!Hungary cosplay since that one is of higher quality. Furthermore, I shall try to create the signature Rin headband/bow... Can't promise anything though! xD

Yours sincerely,
UchihaMonster

I have finally finished the skirt after 7 hours of manpower on it! Phew! I think it looks amazing for my first circle skirt so I'm really chuffed! ^^ The ribbon isn't the straightest, but you can barely notice it. :) I hope to add the circles within the next few weeks but I'll leave it like this until after Birmingham Expo. :) This means the whole cosplay is finished! :D

Worked on my skirt the entire day today! Arrived home from school at 4 o'clock and just stopped now! I'm just over halfway through! :D I've tacked the black ribbon on, just need to sew the ribbon, sew the circles, hem the bottom part and add a red ribbon to it and it's finished! ^^; It's taking me ageees! XD Wish me luck!

Well, I've asked my Grandma if she can make the skirt/bodice/straps (she's been a professional seamstress for over 40 years) and she said that she can't right now because her sewing machine is broken... D: I've looked online for suitable skirts but I can only find those skimpy short ('sexy') skirts that only cover half of your bum.... :( It seems like I'll have to make it myself... Hooray for crappy skirts! :D

UchihaMonster

I've made some progress on the skirt! :D It looks alright and it's reasonably long. :) First time making a circle skirt and I think it looks alright! I still need to hem it and add the details, but first I need to buy the black ribbon. I'm thinking of adding some red ribbon on the top, what do you guys think? By the way, excuse the derp face! XD It was 11pm and I was dead tired...

UchihaMonster

So. Yesterday I bought the trousers (Sainbury's Basics, £6) and today I went over to my friend's house and made the apron! I also just finished the shorts! :D The line of the hem is looking a bit messy because of the machine malfunctioning so I might use the yellow bits to cover it up. Other than that, all going to plan! Now I just need the plain white socks, tie and possibly shoes and I'll be all finished! :D Just need the wig, though... ^^;

UchihaMonster

Fabric arrived today! It's really long (longer than my bed lengthways) and it's really good quality! It was really cheap (£8 for 3.5m) and it arrived in 2 days! I highly recommend using the website 'efabrics.co.uk'! Anyways, I will be posting pictures of the fabric soon and start working on the skirt itself ASAP. This cosplay will be finished as soon as the ribbons arrive! ^^

UchihaMonster

I had a try at making shorts from scratch yesterday out of a fleece blanked that I had... I'm never making shorts from scratch ever again. They are evil. They are trickier than they look. Seriously! Definitely won't be using it... I'll just go back to the original plan.

UchihaMonster

Just ordered the fabric and ribbons! They should be arriving before Saturday so I can get everything ready for Saturday and finish it then. My second cosplay should be finished by Saturday, then! :)

UchihaMonster

I now have a date that I'm hoping to finish this cosplay by! :D It should be finished by this Saturday (23rd)! I haven't got the ribbons or material so far, but I will order them ASAP! I'm looking to wear this cosplay on Sunday at the Birmingham Expo, so look out for me! :) I also got a wig on Saturday for all my Hungary cosplays so it should look even better! :D It's a bit gingery but it will do.

I bought a shirt and waistcoat for my other cosplay, Kagamine Len (Alice Human Sacrifice version) but it's usable for this cosplay. Therefore, I will class them as part of this cosplay, too. There's a picture of it attached.

I went to British Heart Foundation today and was searching for some trousers to make into the shorts (long story short; school trousers were thrown out) and I found a lovely waistcoat that would be perfect! I also saw a perfect shirt so I bought them both for a grand total of £7! Whereas online, it would have been more than £20 at least! Pleased with this! I may or may not add more detail to the shirt. I might make the cuffs yellow. Although, I wouldn't be able to use them for my Hungary cosplay then... I might just leave it like that! :)

UchihaMonster

I've got my old school trousers that I will cut down into the shorts! :) I'm going to hem them, too. This cosplay should hopefully be finished by March or April. :)

UchihaMonster

I didn't like the skirt very much... So I've edited it! ;) I've also added a collar to my shirt and obtained some good boots and tights! Enjoy! This is what I'll be wearing in Telford, so look out for me in the crappy Hungary costume! ;)

UchihaMonster

I've managed to finish my cosplay! I've put up a picture with it. I didn't put on the shoes and socks though, but I will have shoes! XD I wasn't able to find a handkerchief anywhere though... :/ What I'll probably do is just curl my hair a little at the bottom, have it loose and put a flower on it and I'll be Hungary since my hair is too long for Chibitalia. ;)

UchihaMonster

Apron arrived today... It's perfect! No changes needed! :D I made my friend try the skirt and apron on and she looked a lot like Chibitalia, even without the shirt and hair! It's going pretty well so far! :) I've hem-lined the shirt and made some ribbons, now I just need to dye the shirt (which is proving harder that it should be...) and then attach the ribbons and the shirt will be done! I need to buy a white handkerchief and a wig and it will be done. I'm a bit worried about the wig though... It's too expensive for my budget and I don't think Dad will buy it. Plus my hair is too long and dark to style it in Chibitalia style... Damn it...

UchihaMonster

Yay! The skirt is virtually done! I've hem lined it, sewn it together, cut it to the right size, put an elastic band...etc I didn't need to buy any more fabric, as I found a way to do it with the fabric I had. It's just a bit tight, but it's fine. I need to buy some white fabric and do the white bits at the bottom and add some decorations and details and it will be done. I haven't dyed the shirt yet, but I will do so soon. Everything is shaping up really well! :D

UchihaMonster
P.S. I will add pictures soon!

So many things gone wrong! The fabric isn't long enough and it looks like Chibitalia is some hooker with a crack on his bum, and the bloody sewing machine is acting up... Grr... I have to go and buy 1m of green fabric now, and now I have to use the sewing machines at school.... Grr! Not to mention that the fabric dye costs a bloody fortune... >:(

UchihaMonster
(Not a happy bunny...)

Slight change of plan. I bought 2m of emerald green fabric from Hobbycraft and 1m of elastic hemline thingymabobby... What I'll do is cut out the skirt fabric then sew it together. To make it stretchy, I'll do the stretchy elastic thing that some jeans have, and... Voila! Skirt! I bought a white top and I'll dye it green and that'll be the shirt. The apron is sorted, just need to actually buy it from ebay. On the skirt, to make it similar to Chibitalia, I'll have to get a small white strip of fabric and sew it to the bottom of the skirt on the inside and it'll look like the real deal.

Got everything sorted to far! :D Let's hope everything goes well. ;)
