2nd October 2011: Coscon Astrid's first outing was Coscon in Norway (today). There's still some details missing here and there, which will be completed for Expo at the end of the month.
And yes, Astrid was attaced by a dragon! :P
15th August 2011: Underskirt, skirt and shoulder armour... are more or less complete! BELIEVE IT! (shoulder armour only lacks the skulls). So here is a WIP picture, because I needed a break from working.
The spikes on the skirt has all been sewn on individually, so the 44 spikes took absolutely AGES to put on. But hopefully that will keep them from falling off.
Also, the shape of the skirt looks horrid on this pic! XD That mannequin and this lighting doesn't work together XD
26th June 2011: Spikes and skirt Skirt has been made. As has all the spikes for the skirt. Skirt has also been weathered. Astrid doesn't seem like the kind of girl who plays around nicely and looks after her clothes... Now the spikes and skulls just have to be fastened to the skirt.
Also, Astrid won't be worn for Desucon 6 (in Oslo). She's not anywhere near complete. And Desucon is tomorrow. So she'll be saved for Ayacon. :)
20th June 2011: Skulls The skulls are now painted, and ready for use! Just need to make the skirt that most of them go on now...
Colours used: Skull White, Bleached Bone and Chaos Black. I absolutely love the Games Workshop paint!
20th June 2011: Pouch Went to a Medieval Festival, and found a nice pouch for Astrid. It's not perfect in terms of shape and colour, but close enough! I chose to buy because I need Astrid done by Friday, so I'm running out of time. Found a puch - time saved. More importantly it's got a nice functioning clasp so I can keep my mobile phone and money in it. Yey for cosplays with bags! 8D
12th June 2011: Skullsssss Ok, I thought these skulls would take ages to make! But they actually didn't take that long. Though, long enough to make my head feel funny after breathing clay "fumes" for too long.
9 out of 10 skulls have been made. Ran out of clay before I could start the last one. Typical >.< But I need to buy more clay to make the spikes for the skirt anyways, so no biggie.
Tomorrow they will hopefully be dry enough for me to start the fun job: painting them! :D
Shoulder armour has been made as well. just need to fasten the small spikes to it, then paint.
Wooooooo! Progress! 8D
30th May 2011: Fabric! Went out looking for fabric for Nuregami, mainly, but ended up finding the almost perfect fabric for Astrid's shirt and trousers! 8D Can't wait to get started!
